Salary : $15,585.00 - $21,819.00 Annually Location : Carson City, NV Job Type: PART-TIME / HOURLY Job Number: 909_04/2025 Department: District Attorney Opening Date: 04/02/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Description This is a non-exempt, part-time position, not to exceed 1,039 work hours in a fiscal year, with the District Attorney's Office located in Carson City, Nevada. Under general supervision, this position will perform a variety of duties for the District Attorney office. Duties include customer service, delivery of subpoenas/summons, writing notes, and performing related duties as required. Must be able to work 10 to 20 hours per week, this may include evenings and weekends. ** This recruitment will remain open until recruitment needs are satisfied. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. Serve and/or pick up subpoenas, summons and other documents in person and by telephone. Respond to request for information regarding subpoenas/witnesses/victims. Write correspondence or reports. Enter and retrieve information from an automated data system. Review all work for accuracy and completeness, and maintain confidentiality of all information. Meet and confer with staff of District Attorney's Office to accomplish goals. Adhere to all City vehicle policies. Testify under oath regarding service of subpoenas/summons. Transport witnesses and victims to/from court. Typical Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Graduation from high school, GED or equivalent education; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources. SPECIAL NOTE: Ability to speak Spanish at least conversationally is preferred, but not required. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION: Valid driver's license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of: Basic computer skills. Microsoft Word and Outlook programs. Legal protocols when serving documents. Ability to: Make phone calls and answer calls related to serving subpoenas. Operate standard office equipment, including telephones, calculators, copiers, fax machines. Write notes and track all subpoenas/summons, successful and unsuccessful. Maintain confidentiality of information. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Read and follow instructions. Establish and maintain interpersonal and cooperative relationships. Read and analyze technical procedures and governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. Drive City-owned automobiles. Effectively testify under oath in court regarding service of subpoenas/summons. Follow legal protocols when serving documents.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Under General Supervision - Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. Any City employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency. Employees may be required to complete Incident Command System training as a condition of continuing employment. New employees are required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation and a drug screen. Employment is contingent upon passing the background and the drug screen. Carson City participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each applicant's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. Part-time employees are not eligible to receive paid leave (including pay for not working on holidays), PERS retirement, or medical/dental/vision/life insurance. Nevada does not have a state income tax. Part-time employees do not contribute to social security; however, they must contribute 7.5% of their gross pay into a FICA Alternative Plan and are also responsible for paying the 1.45% Medicare tax.
